Small Changes from Chile (map) Portillo, Chile Thursday, September 07, 2006
The evil dark side of spammers came to my site and polluted it with spam filth. Sucking up to the gods of page rank... bah! Spam gone and a new featurette to prevent more in the future... done only with notepad from ten thousand feet in the Andes. Wurd.
Add comment New Archive View! (map) Ljubljana, Slovenia Thursday, July 13, 2006
Ahh, downtime in lovely Ljubljana... Perfect time to play around with some changes I've wanted to make for a while. Brought to you from the cafes of this lovely down are some new archive features. Archive Map Now all past posts in the archive appear on a map. If you zoom in far enough the stars are clickable (havent figured out yet how to make em always clickable) and a pop up displays links to the posts from that location. Hopefully useful. Better navigation when reading old posts Now each individual post page has the basic previous and next post links you'd expect. Also there is a new link to the archive. This hopefully makes it much easier to romp through a bunch of posts and cherry pick while reading. Also, I've updated the version to beta instead of alpha. The sites been up over 250 days. And while I'm more or less the only poster at this point (very exclusive), there are a fair number of readers and the sites proven road-worthy - at least to me :)

The good folks over at Virtual Earth finally shut off support for the previous version of the map control. EOL'ing was long overdue but I was fighting it... Alas, after dukeing it out with the code for a while braveorbit is now happily (well mostly happily) on VE v2. Hopefully V3 is a little smoother and takes less time : ) I also used the opportunity to try to clean things up a little and simplify the look n feel...

And for its 100th day birthday... it gets the flickrpickr thumbnail view... Sometimes it sucks so bad waiting for images to load on the flickrpickr. Well suck no more! Now the images come up as thumbnails.... you can load a million in like a second! Not really, but whatever. If you click the image you get the full view, and if you add it to your post it comes up in a nice medium size... but without all the wait when you are looking for just the right foto! Ah yeah... code from St. Anton... where the snow is good, the hill is steep and the beats are pumpin.
