BraveOrbit is a travel blogging tool designed to be a cool way to share your
travels and discover what others write about. It can also be used as a day
to day blog. BraveOrbit is in early alpha test phase.
BraveOrbit (TM) is a non commercial venture of Braventure, LLC. It is done on an extremely small budget with very few people
contributing. One part-time person and a couple friends chipping in.
BraveOrbit is a free, non-commercial travelblog app. With it, you can:
- Easily add locations to your blog posts which show up on a map. This makes it easy for people to see where you've been on your travels. See example.
- You can add your contacts and when you chose to notify your contacts, they'll automatically be emailed. This should be a lot easier then constantly remembering who to include in your mails.
- Add images (yours and others) to your posts by using Flickr via the Flickr photo Pickr.
- Create itineraries, see them on a map and share them with others.
- Make it easier for people to find your stuff through tagging and indexing
your content.
- And hopefully enjoy many more new cool features down the road...
One other thing you may enjoy about braveOrbit is that it doesn't have banner ads or affiliate links.
One downside to consider before signing up... braveOrbit is run on an extremely low budget and ultra small support staff, so you may run into some occasional rough edges or slow support response time.
Exceptionally cool photo site thing. Just check it out and go from
there... Flickr.com
VirtualEarth.com - just check it out.
just email

Unfortunatly BraveOrbit doesnt do to well consuming document types formatted by others. So its just not really supported. BraveO really tries to make sure something resembling your post actually appears. It also tries to keep some of the formatting, but gives up easily on that.
Ahh yes, adding pictures. Thought you'd never ask ;) First off, braveorbit doesnt actually store images itself, it just links to other sites which do. All part of the shoestring travelblog experience. This means you basically have 2 options:
Option 1 - The Easy Way
The easy way to add images to braveorbit is to get a flickr.com account which is a rad site for storing your images. Once you have your account there and have uploaded some images your'e ready to go. Simple add or edit a post on braveorbit and look for the button (if its not there, see the not as easy way below). Click it and viola, you have the flickrpickr. From there you enter your user name and your pictures should show up. Select the ones you want, click done, and you should be good to go. Note that the powerful and knowledgeable flickrpickr allows you to include other people's photos as well, just be sure to leave the credit to them as well to avoid copyright issues.
Option 2 - The not as easy way
If you are a non IE user (firefox, mobile phone, smoke signal browser) then there is no flickrpickr for you unfortunatly. This is a mixed blessing because it also means you have the power to link to arbitrary images on the web (including flickr) you just have to know what to do. Basically you just add an html image link and you are good to go. IE users can get this mighty power by clicking on advanced edit in their editor.
OK good luck with the photos!
No problem, just email theDude@braveorbit.com.
